An awareness walk was organized by the Gynecology Department on the occasion of World Anemia Day at Sahiwal Teaching Hospital. The walk was led by the Head of the Gynecology Department, Professor Naila Yasmin, Dr. Hina Ilyas and Dr. Safia Izhar. Sahiwal Medical College Principal Professor Dr. Muhammad Akhtar, Medical Superintendent Dr. Zulfiqar Haider, Dr. Zahid Sattar, Dr. Zahid Rafique, Dr. Mah Para, along with a large number of faculty members and nurses were also present on the occasion. The awareness walk started from Rehmatul-ul-Alameen Block and reached the MS Office. During the walk, the participants held awareness flexes and banners about anemia on which messages were written about the harms of anemia and its prevention.
On this occasion, Dr. Hina Ilyas and Dr. Naila Yasmin said that anemia is a rapidly spreading problem among women, for which it is imperative to raise public awareness. They said that women should not neglect their nutritional needs and health issues because their health is the foundation of future generations. The participants concluded the walk with a commitment to prevent anemia, timely diagnosis and highlight the importance of a balanced diet.
