WASA MD Directs Immediate Covering of Missing Manholes, Broken Slabs and Submission of Certificates

Faisalabad: Managing Director WASA Saqib Raza has directed the immediate covering of missing manholes and broken slabs across the city and instructed concerned officers to submit completion certificates without delay, while clearly stating that the roadside drainage slabs of all eight bazaars must be cleared under all circumstances. Presiding over a meeting, he said that in line with the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, duties are being performed with full commitment to ensure the protection of human lives. However, he emphasized that immediate action is required regarding missing manholes and damaged slabs along roads throughout the city. He directed that, on a priority basis, all missing manholes should be covered and broken slabs restored, followed by the submission of verified certificates. The MD WASA warned that directors must ensure strict monitoring of their subordinate sub-engineers and supervisors, otherwise inquiries could be initiated against them. He further stressed that the roadside drainage slabs in the city’s central eight bazaars must be cleared in all cases. During the meeting, he also directed that construction of a new sewer line and roadside drain on Millat Road should be started immediately and completed by January 20. He ordered the immediate covering of the drain on Jinnah Bagh Road, and instructed that slabs be installed on the irrigation drain lines near the main gate of the Municipal Corporation to facilitate the public. The MD WASA further directed that the second phase of desilting of Main Chen One be launched immediately, while completion of roadside drain slabs along Samanabad College Road should also be ensured at the earliest.
