The Texans are coming off a 30–6 wild-card road win over the Pittsburgh Steelers, highlighted by big defensive plays and a breakout game from Christian Kirk, who had 8 catches for 144 yards and a touchdown. That marked Houston’s first road playoff victory in franchise history
Houston possesses one of the NFL’s top-ranked defenses, strong in yardage and takeaways, nicknamed “The Swarm”, they are hoping to lead the team.
Star Defensive Texans Players include;
Will Anderson Jr. – Lead pass rusher and team defensive anchor at edge.
Derek Stingley Jr.- Shutdown corner and top-tier cover man at cornerback.
Danielle Hunter – Complementary pass rusher to Anderson at edge.
Jalen Pitre – Versatile playmaker at and coverage defender at safety.
Azeez Al-Shaair – Tackling leader and on-field communicator at linebacker.
Houston’s offense ranks mid-tier, and has been struggling in the red zone which may be additionally exposed as Star WR Nico Collins will not play due to failure to clear concussion protocol. Losing Collins, Houston’s leading receiver all season will be a significant offensive setback, forcing C.J. Stroud to lean more heavily on remaining targets and quick passing schemes. Veterans Christian Kirk and Dalton Shultz along with rookies Jayden Higgins and Woody Marks will need to continue to step-up to and exploit the opportunity of an inactive Collins.
This is a franchise-defining opportunity for the Texans.
