FDA intestifies crackdown against illegal housing schemes

FAISALABAD:The Faisalabad Development Authority (FDA) Town Planning Department intensified its crackdown again illegal housing schemes and executing 203 operations in 2025 to demolish their illegal structures and seal site offices. Additionally, 49 applications for First Information Reports (FIRs) were submitted to various police stations against developers involved in serious violations.
These details were shared during a performance review meeting chaired by Director General FDA, Mohammad Asif Chaudhry. The session was attended by Director Town Planning Asma Mohsin, Director IT Yasir Ejaz Chattha, and Deputy Directors Town Planning Raheel Zafar, Ahmed Ibrahim, Iqra Murtaza, and Faran Siddiqui, among others.
The forum was informed that, during the previous year, 86 challans were submitted to the Special Judicial Magistrate’s court regarding illegal developments. To curb the growth of unapproved schemes, the FDA formally requested utility providers to withhold services and initiated proceedings to ban the transfer and registration of plots in 397 housing schemes. Director Town Planning informed Asma Mohsan that a public awareness campaign is currently active across social media and traditional news outlets to warn citizens against investing in these illegal projects.
DG FDA Mohammad Asif Chaudhry reaffirmed a “zero-tolerance policy” against illegal housing, directing enforcement teams to remain fully mobilized. He emphasized that the Town Planning Department’s performance must not decline in the current year and urged the implementation of a comprehensive strategy for organized urban development. Furthermore, he stressed the importance of digital reforms to ensure the real-time issuance of Town Planning reports, completion certificates and possession slips to improve service delivery for the public.
