Following rain accompanied by thunder and lightning, the first snowfall of the winter season has occurred in various areas of Balochistan, including the provincial capital Quetta and the border city of Chaman. The heaviest snowfall has been recorded in Kojak Top, Toba Achakzai, Toba Kakari, Kan Mehtarzai, and Ziarat.
To keep major international highways open for traffic, the Balochistan government, on the directives of local administration, along with PDMA and NHA, has taken timely measures. So far, no untoward incident has been reported from any area. Since last night, the district administration and PDMA have ensured that the international highway at Chaman–Kojak Top remains open.
The snowfall has brought a wave of happiness among the public. After several years of drought, the recent rains and heavy snowfall have lifted public morale and ended the prevailing sense of disappointment.
