Faisalabad: In line with the directives of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the divisional administration has issued a one-week deadline for the installation of firefighting equipment in all multi-storey buildings across Faisalabad. In this regard, Civil Defence and Rescue 1122 have been directed to serve notices to marquees, hotels, restaurants, shopping malls, industrial units, housing societies, public offices and educational institutions and ensure the availability of proper fire safety equipment. A high-level meeting was held under the chairmanship of Faisalabad Commissioner Raja Jahangir Anwar, which was attended by Deputy Commissioner Captain (R) Nadeem Nasir, along with officials from Rescue 1122, the Industries Department, the Regional Transport Authority and other concerned departments. The commissioner directed that mock exercises be conducted in educational institutions to effectively deal with any potential emergency situations. He further stated that after the one-week deadline, he would personally visit various sites along with the deputy commissioner and assistant commissioners to inspect fire safety arrangements, warning that non-compliance would result in fines and sealing of the buildings.
