The meeting of the District Emergency Board was held at Montgomery Hall under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Captain (R) Samiullah Farooq, in which Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Captain (R) Osama Majeed Cheema, Additional Deputy Commissioner General Niaz Ahmed Mughal and Assistant Commissioner Maham Wahid, along with officers of all relevant departments, attended. In the meeting, it was decided to conduct a fire safety audit of 24 high-risk buildings located within the limits of Municipal Corporations/Committees and District Council in the wake of the Gul Plaza Karachi tragedy. Deputy Commissioner Captain (R) Samiullah Farooq directed Rescue 1122 to immediately form teams and visit these buildings and submit a comprehensive report to the DC office within 24 hours. The Deputy Commissioner directed to ensure the full functionality of all fire hydrants and water filling stations in the city. He also ordered to activate 100 water filling stations under the PEACEP project and hand them over to the concerned department soon. The meeting also directed to identify sensitive locations and keep an effective traffic management plan ready at all times in case of any possible untoward incident. Deputy Commissioner Captain (R) Samiullah Farooq clarified that the protection of lives and property of citizens is the top priority of the district administration and no negligence in this regard will be tolerated.
