According to details, unknown armed assailants opened fire on a polio vaccination team in the outskirts of the Roghani area of Chaman during the ongoing anti-polio campaign.
As a result of the attack, one police officer deployed for security was martyred, while another sustained injuries. Hospital sources confirmed that the injured officer is being provided immediate medical treatment.
The polio team remained safe during the incident. Following the attack, security in the area has been further tightened.
Police and other law-enforcement agencies have launched a search operation to apprehend the attackers. Further investigations are underway.
