District Health and Population Department hosts seminar to raise awareness on population growth challenges

TOBA TEK SINGH: An awareness seminar was organized by the District Health and Population Department at the District Council Hall Toba Tek Singh to highlight the challenges of rapid population growth and the importance of maternal and child health. District Health and Population Officer Toba Tek Singh Chaudhry Muhammad Naeem attended the seminar as a special guest.
Addressing the seminar, renowned religious scholar Pir Syed Shams-ul-Zaman Qadri delivered a special speech in which he briefed the participants about the negative impacts of the increasing population on the country’s economy. He emphasized that the health of the mother and child should be the top priority and stated that maintaining an appropriate birth spacing is essential to ensure the well-being of both mother and child, as well as to maintain balance in the family according to available resources.Pir Syed Shams-ul-Zaman further said that religious scholars are the true heirs of the pulpit and the mosque and they must play an active role in conveying this important message to the public for the welfare of society.


Speaking on the occasion, District Population Officer Toba Tek Singh Chaudhry Muhammad Naeem highlighted the adverse effects of rapid population growth on the national economy. He stressed the need for family planning according to available resources. He stated that only through balanced family planning can parents ensure better upbringing of their children and provide them with proper nutrition, healthcare, and quality education.
A large number of religious scholars, civil society members, media representatives and men and women participated in the seminar and termed this informative session a positive step towards public welfare.
