Canada has announced the imposition of a 25% tariff on U.S. car imports following President Donald Trump’s declaration of additional tariffs. Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney stated that Trump’s trade war could devastate the global economy.
Meanwhile, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) warned that the U.S. tariffs pose a significant risk to the global economy, urging the U.S. to avoid actions that could harm international growth, particularly amid slow economic growth.
The European Union also condemned the U.S. tariffs as a “major blow” to the global economy and announced plans to prepare retaliatory measures. The French government stated it would work with European partners to respond to Trump’s tariffs.
Additionally, China called for the cancellation of the new tariffs, while Japan’s Prime Minister described the U.S. President’s actions as unfair.
