An investigation is underway after a Mexican Navy training ship struck the Brooklyn Bridge on Saturday, damaging the top of its masts. Officials said Monday the probe will examine a possible engine failure and the role of a tugboat that was assisting the vessel in backing out of its pier. The incident caused visible damage to the ship’s rigging but no injuries were reported. Authorities are working to determine whether mechanical issues or navigational misjudgments contributed to the accident. The ship had been in New York as part of a goodwill tour.
