Tarbela Dam Spillways to Open; Public Advised to Avoid Indus River Banks

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) issued a warning on Sunday, alerting residents near the Indus River that the Tarbela Dam spillways will be opened at 2:30 PM. Water discharge may increase from 160,000 to 260,000 cusecs, raising flood risks in the Indus and its tributaries. Authorities urged locals to stay away from riverbanks and canals for safety.
