Islamabad: The Federal Ombudsman Institution of Pakistan has completed 43 years of its establishment today. The institution was founded on this day in 1983 with the establishment of its first headquarters in Islamabad. Subsequently, regional offices were set up in all four provincial capitals. Today, the Federal Ombudsman operates a nationwide network consisting of the Head Office in Islamabad along with 28 regional offices and complaint centers across the country.On the occasion of the 43rd anniversary, Federal Ombudsman Ejaz Ahmad Qureshi, in his special message, stated that due to the dedicated efforts of officers and staff, the institution has emerged as a model of good governance in the country and has earned the trust and confidence of the general public. He said that through continuous efforts, the Federal Ombudsman has promoted transparency, accountability, good governance and the rule of law within government departments and public sector organizations.He further added that during these 43 years, the institution has continuously expanded its outreach to ensure that justice is made accessible to citizens near their homes. The Federal Ombudsman informed that more than 2.5 million complainants and families have been provided relief over the past four decades, the majority of whom belong to underprivileged segments of society and remote areas of the country.
Highlighting the performance of the institution, Ejaz Ahmad Qureshi stated that in the year 2025 alone, a total of 261,101 complaints were decided. He attributed the consistent increase in the number of complaints to the establishment of additional regional offices, organization of open courts (Khuli Katcheries) and the introduction of initiatives such as IRDS, which have made the complaint resolution process more accessible and efficient.He emphasized that the growing number of complaints every year reflects the increasing public trust in the Federal Ombudsman Institution. Reaffirming his commitment, the Federal Ombudsman stated that the institution will continue to work vigorously to achieve its core objectives, including the elimination of maladministration, promotion of good governance, strengthening the rule of law and protection of human rights.
Ejaz Ahmad Qureshi also acknowledged the tireless efforts of officers and staff working at the Head Office and regional offices across the country, stating that the current success and stature of the institution would not have been possible without their dedication and hard work. He urged all officers and staff members to further intensify their efforts for the prompt and effective redressal of public grievances.
Concluding his message, the Federal Ombudsman expressed confidence that the institution will continue to grow stronger in the coming years and will further enhance its role in ensuring justice, transparency and accountability in public service delivery.
