Governor Saleem Haider Khan condolence visit highlights solidarity with PPP leader Rukhsana Qamar
FAISALABAD: Governor Punjab Sardar Saleem Haider Khan visited Faisalabad to offer condolences to Rukhsana Qamar District President Women Wing Faisalabad, on the demise of her young son.Speaking on the occasion, the Governor said that he had come on the instructions of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari to express solidarity with the bereaved family. “We equally share your grief,” he stated, adding that the entire leadership of Pakistan Peoples Party stands with Rukhsana Qamar and her family in this difficult time.
During his visit, the Governor also met with local office-bearers, workers and supporters of the Pakistan Peoples Party in Faisalabad.
After expressing condolences, Sardar Saleem Haider Khan addressed the media and said that Pakistan today stands with dignity and respect at the global level. He termed the day significant, mentioning that foreign ministers from four Islamic countries had arrived to deliberate on finding a peaceful resolution to the Iran-US-Israel tensions.
He credited President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir for bringing stability to the country. He also congratulated Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and allied leadership for their national services.The Governor emphasized that Pakistan is playing a key role in promoting dialogue for peace in the region. “Pakistan desires peace and believes in negotiations rather than war,” he said, adding that efforts to reduce global tensions are commendable. He stressed that ending the loss of innocent lives and destruction is the need of the hour.He strongly condemned any inappropriate language against holy places and their custodians, stating that such remarks are unacceptable. He urged the Muslim Ummah to demonstrate unity and raise its voice on this issue, adding that no one should be allowed to use derogatory language regarding sacred sites.Highlighting economic prospects, he said there is a need to provide a conducive environment for investors in Pakistan, expressing hope that investment opportunities will increase after the end of war-like situations.
Responding to a question, he clarified that there is no truth in claims about extending the assembly’s term to ten years, reiterating that timely elections are essential for democratic stability.
On Afghanistan, he expressed concern over the situation and called for a cautious and responsible policy approach.
