When the enemies of Islam planned to assassinate the Prophet ﷺ and surrounded his house, Hazrat Ali (RA) courageously agreed to sleep in the Prophet’s bed. By doing so, he risked his life to ensure the safe departure of the Prophet ﷺ.

Courage and Bravery in Islamic Battles

His legendary sword Zulfiqar became a symbol of courage and strength in Islamic history.
Hazrat Ali (RA) – The Gate of Knowledge

Prophet Muhammad ﷺ once said:
“I am the city of knowledge, and Ali is its gate.”

Justice During the Caliphate of Hazrat Ali (RA)
Hazrat Ali (RA) served as the fourth Caliph of Islam from 35 AH to 40 AH. His leadership was marked by strong principles of justice and equality.
One well-known incident highlights his commitment to fairness.
A dispute once arose between Hazrat Ali (RA) and a Jewish man regarding a piece of armor. The case was presented before a judge. Instead of ruling in favor of the Caliph, the judge asked Hazrat Ali (RA) to present evidence.
Since he could not produce witnesses, the judge ruled in favor of the Jewish man.
The Jewish man was deeply impressed by this level of justice and equality. Witnessing that even the Caliph was treated equally under the law, he later embraced Islam.
This event is often cited as one of the greatest examples of justice in Islamic governance.
Sayings of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ About Hazrat Ali (RA)
Prophet Muhammad ﷺ frequently praised Hazrat Ali (RA) and highlighted his virtues.
Some well-known sayings include:
“Love for Ali is a sign of faith, and hatred for Ali is a sign of hypocrisy.”
On another occasion, the Prophet ﷺ said:
“Are you not pleased that you are to me as Aaron was to Moses, except that there will be no prophet after me?”
These sayings reflect the special status Hazrat Ali (RA) held in the eyes of the Prophet ﷺ.
Martyrdom of Hazrat Ali (RA)
The martyrdom of Hazrat Ali (RA) is one of the most tragic moments in Islamic history. On the 19th of Ramadan in 40 AH, while leading the Fajr prayer in the mosque of Kufa, Hazrat Ali (RA) was attacked with a poisoned sword by a Kharijite named Abd al-Rahman ibn Muljam.
He suffered severe injuries and passed away two days later on 21st Ramadan 40 AH (661 CE) at the age of approximately 62 or 63 years. His martyrdom marked the end of a remarkable era of leadership, justice, and wisdom.
