The gathering will focus on the party\u2019s political direction, organizational matters and the selection of new central leadership.<\/p>\n<h3>Nepali Congress 15th General Convention Begins<\/h3>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">The convention is the party\u2019s first regular national convention since December 2021. Delegates are taking part in closed sessions before voting begins later in the week.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Party officials said more than 7,700 delegates were expected to participate. The convention also includes representatives from different parts of Nepal and overseas organizations.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">The gathering is being held under the theme of respecting tradition while committing to change. The party is also discussing organizational reforms and its future political direction.<\/p>\n<h3>Nepali Congress Leadership Election Set for October 7 and 8<\/h3>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">The <strong>Nepali Congress leadership election<\/strong> is scheduled for October 7 and 8. Delegates will vote to select the party\u2019s new central office-bearers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">The election follows closed sessions on October 5 and 6. During these sessions, party leaders are presenting political, organizational and financial reports. Delegates are also discussing proposed changes to the party\u2019s statute and organizational structure.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Gagan Kumar Thapa, who currently leads the party, has also filed his candidacy for the presidency during the ongoing convention. The final voter list contains 7,114 confirmed representatives.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">The convention comes at an important stage for the Nepali Congress.
