His sentencing marks a major development in the fallout from Evergrande\u2019s financial crisis, which became one of the most significant corporate failures in China\u2019s property sector.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Hui, also known as <strong>Xu Jiayin<\/strong>, pleaded guilty in April to several charges, including <strong>embezzlement of assets and corporate bribery<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2>Evergrande Companies Fined Billions<\/h2>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">The court imposed combined fines of <strong>15.82 billion yuan ($2.35 billion)<\/strong> on Hui\u2019s former companies for multiple offences, including falsifying financial records and concealing debt.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">According to the court, Hui and his businesses had <strong>seriously disrupted China\u2019s property market<\/strong>, causing substantial economic losses.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">The case highlights the enormous consequences of Evergrande\u2019s collapse, which affected investors, homeowners, financial institutions and domestic banks while adding pressure to China\u2019s already struggling property market.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Other Evergrande executives were also sentenced in connection with the company\u2019s financial crimes. As China\u2019s property market weakened and the company struggled to meet its financial obligations, its debt problems intensified.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">The crisis eventually contributed to the collapse of one of the country\u2019s best-known property developers and sent shockwaves through China\u2019s wider financial system.<\/p>\n<p>Hui\u2019s life sentence now places a dramatic end to the rise of a businessman who once symbolised China\u2019s property boom.
