Orange Day Awareness Event on Children’s Health Held at THQ Hospital Kamalia

Health officials inaugurate Vitamin C awareness event at Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Kamalia, encouraging parents to include citrus fruits like oranges in children’s daily diet to boost immunity and prevent anemia.

The ceremony was jointly inaugurated by Dr. Kashif Nadeem Chief Executive Officer Health Toba Tek Singh, Dr. Mian Adeel Arif Medical Superintendent THQ Hospital Kamalia and Dr. Asim Ejaz Deputy District Health Officer Kamalia.A large number of doctors, paramedical staff and parents particularly mothers attended the event. The purpose of the ceremony was to raise public awareness, especially among parents, about the importance of Vitamin C for children’s health. Addressing the participants, the speakers highlighted that Vitamin C is a water-soluble vitamin that is not stored in the body. therefore, its daily requirement must be fulfilled through regular diet. They explained that Vitamin C strengthens the immune system in children, helping protect them from colds, flu, fever and other infections. Moreover, it enhances iron absorption and plays a vital role in preventing anemia among children.
Doctors advised parents to include natural sources of Vitamin C in their children’s daily diet, such as oranges, mandarins, guavas, lemons, tomatoes and other fresh fruits and vegetables to ensure proper growth and better health. During the session, parents were also informed about the recommended daily intake of Vitamin C according to children’s age and practical ways to meet this requirement through home-based nutrition.At the conclusion of the event, oranges were distributed among children and their parents.Participants appreciated the initiative, terming it a positive and beneficial activity for children’s health and emphasized that such awareness campaigns are the need of the hour.
