On September 9, Chinese President Xi Jinping met Portuguese Prime Minister Luís Montenegro at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. President Xi said China and Portugal had set an example of mutual respect and win-win cooperation, noting this year marks the 20th anniversary of their comprehensive strategic partnership. He called for closer collaboration in green development, maritime, medical, and technological sectors, alongside enhanced cultural, educational, and tourism exchanges. Prime Minister Montenegro reaffirmed Portugal’s commitment to the One-China Policy and expressed readiness to deepen political trust, expand trade and investment, and strengthen cooperation in energy, finance, and water resources.
