Ravi Foundation vaccinates 1,000 dogs and launches rabies awareness drive in Kamalia.

Ravi Foundation an NGO, conducted a special awareness and practical campaign to prevent rabies in Kamalia during which special attention was paid to the establishment of a rabies-free society and the treatment of injured stray dogs. During the campaign, a total of 150 injured dogs were treated while 1000 dogs were vaccinated against rabies. Ms Raffia Ashfaq, Chairperson of Ravi Foundation, said in a press conference on Saturday that the aim of this programme was to protect the society from a deadly disease like rabies and to reduce the risks to human lives along with the protection of animals. She said that timely vaccination and treatment of stray dogs is not only for the welfare of animals but also for the protection of public health. In this regard, a special awareness session was organised at the Agriculture University Sub-Campus where Dr Riaz informed students about the precautions to prevent rabies, symptoms and the importance of timely medical assistance. He urged the students to take precautionary measures in their surroundings and immediately consult an authorised medical center in case of any suspected animal bite.Moreover, in Kamalia, Dr Ali Akbar provided detailed awareness about rabies to men and women through three different seminars. In the seminars, citizens were told that rabies is a treatable disease provided timely vaccination and medical facilities are obtained. The civic circles appreciated this effort of the Ravi Foundation and termed it a positive step for public health and animal welfare. The speakers said that the continuation of such campaigns will not only help control a dangerous disease like rabies but will also promote responsible behaviors in the society. The Ravi Foundation has expressed its determination to continue such activities in the future as well so that the goal of making Kamalia and its surroundings a rabies-free area can be achieved.
