Soil nitrogen deficiency Pakistan highlighted at UAF farmers moot with urgent call for modern farming solutions

Faisalabad: Experts have revealed that nearly 90 percent of agricultural land is facing soil nitrogen deficiency Pakistan, posing a serious challenge to crop productivity and national food security. The issue was discussed in detail at a farmers moot held at Moza Khai.

The event, organized by the University of Agriculture Faisalabad, Punjab Agriculture Extension Department, Ayub Agricultural Research Institute, and Fatima Group, focused on addressing soil nitrogen deficiency Pakistan through collaborative efforts. Farmers from seven union councils and 19 villages participated in the awareness session.

In his virtual address, UAF Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Zulfiqar Ali stressed the importance of joint initiatives to overcome soil nitrogen deficiency Pakistan and improve agricultural output. He highlighted the need to adopt modern technologies and strengthen coordination among stakeholders.

Dean Faculty of Agriculture Prof. Dr. Ghulam Murtaza pointed out that irrational use of inputs is increasing production costs and limiting the benefits of farming. Chief Scientist Wheat Dr. Javed Ahmad emphasized the need to reduce post-harvest losses, which currently stand at 15 to 20 percent. He noted that controlling these losses along with addressing soil nitrogen deficiency Pakistan can significantly enhance farmers’ profitability.

Director Agriculture Extension Faisalabad Chaudhary Khalid Mehmood stated that the government is taking steps to support farmers through subsidies and improved services. He reiterated that overcoming soil nitrogen deficiency Pakistan remains a key priority for agricultural development.
