US Iran war cost could reach $3.7 billion in the first 100 hours, with analysts warning that a prolonged conflict may cost the United States up to $30 billion.

Washington, amid rising tensions in the Middle East, defense analysts are warning that a potential U.S. military conflict with Iran could have significant economic consequences not only for the region but also for the United States. According to the Washington-based think tank Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), the initial phase of a US Iran War Cost billions of dollars.
The organization estimates that the first 100 hours of the conflict could cost approximately $3.7 billion, which averages about $891 million per day. Defense experts note that the opening phase of any large-scale war tends to be the most expensive because it involves the use of advanced and costly weapons systems.

Why Modern Wars Are Extremely Expensive

These weapons typically include stealth aircraft, precision-guided missiles, cruise missiles, drones, and sophisticated intelligence systems. Their primary objective is to weaken the enemy’s defense systems at the outset and establish air superiority.
Analysts say that if the conflict continues for several weeks, the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) may require additional funding. Meeting such large expenses within the current defense budget could be difficult, as it would likely require major cuts to other programs, something that could be politically challenging.

Experts also estimate that if the daily cost remains close to $900 million, a month-long military campaign could cost between $25 billion and $30 billion. This is why several U.S. policy analysts argue that diplomatic solutions should be prioritized before any major military escalation.
Recent history also highlights the financial scale of prolonged wars. The United States spent approximately $823 billion on the Iraq War, while the two-decade conflict in Afghanistan exceeded $2 trillion in total costs.
Analysts emphasize that a large-scale military confrontation with Iran would not only impact the battlefield but could also affect the global economy, energy markets, and international politics. For this reason, many experts believe that careful diplomacy is essential at this stage of escalating tensions in the Middle East.
