Critical projects to be completed before monsoon season to improve drainage facilities, says MD WASA

Faisalabad: The Managing Director of the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) has directed officials to immediately start construction work on development schemes approved under the Punjab Development Program, with special emphasis on completing critical projects before the onset of the monsoon season so that citizens can benefit at the earliest.

Chairing a meeting, the MD WASA stated that under the directives of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, a Punjab Development Program worth Rs 12 billion has been approved. Preparatory work for multiple development schemes under the program has been completed, and it is now the responsibility of WASA officials to ensure the timely commencement of construction activities.

He further said that development schemes of critical importance included in the Punjab Development Program must be executed on a fast-track basis so that they can be completed before the current monsoon season. Upon completion, these projects will provide improved and sustainable drainage and sewerage facilities to the residents of Faisalabad.

The MD WASA emphasized that the elimination of all water ponding points across the city should be treated as a top priority. Where complete elimination is not immediately possible, comprehensive and sustainable drainage solutions must be implemented to ensure effective disposal of rainwater.

Expressing gratitude to the Punjab Chief Minister, the MD WASA said that the launch of a new development program for Faisalabad would help resolve long-standing sewerage and drainage issues faced by the city’s residents.
