A meeting of the District Consumer Protection Council was held at the DC Office under the chairmanship of Additional Deputy Commissioner Revenue Mandi Bahauddin Muhammad Jafar Chaudhry regarding the protection of consumer rights. The meeting was attended by Assistant Director (Legal) District Consumer Protection Council Shehla Mubeen, DSP Legal Chaudhry Ghazanfar Hayat Tala, Senior Member DCPC Raja Muhammad Ayub, Senior Assistant Kamran Naqvi, Lala Muhammad Azam, Madam Nadia Butt, Madam Noreen Naz, Madam Saeqa Noreen and other members of the District Consumer Protection Council. The meeting discussed various suggestions and issues including the implementation of the District Consumer Protection Council Act and the steps taken. The meeting also discussed the progress made so far on the decisions taken in the previous meeting. Assistant Director Shahla Mubeen, while giving a detailed briefing to the meeting regarding the Punjab Consumer Protection Act, said that the District Consumer Protection Council is taking the best steps to protect the rights of consumers. It is mandatory for shopkeepers to display price lists at their shops, issue receipts, make the composition and arrangement of the items sold clear and not sell anything without the date of manufacture and expiry date and not to fight with the consumers over the transaction of the items, otherwise legal action will be taken against them under the Punjab Consumer Protection Act 2025. On which Additional Deputy Commissioner Revenue Chaudhry Muhammad Jaffer said that the protection of consumer rights is the top priority of the Punjab government. He directed the Assistant Director (Legal) to take more steps to create awareness among the public. The Additional Deputy Commissioner appealed to consumers to obtain receipts for purchased items to protect their rights and to approach the District Consumer Protection Council against those selling expired items and providing poor services so that they can be fully redressed.
