Crack down against traffic violators continues in Region Faisalabad

Faisalabad: The Regional Police Officer (RPO) Faisalabad, Zeeshan Asghar has directed an intensive and indiscriminate crackdown on traffic law violations across the Faisalabad region. Acting on these orders, the Punjab Police, Traffic Police and Punjab Highway Patrol have launched large-scale joint operations aimed at improving road safety and ensuring strict compliance with traffic regulations.
Over the past 72 hours, these coordinated enforcement efforts have significantly intensified. According to the Police Spokesperson, fines amounting to more than Rs. 86.7 million have been issued during this period. The operations have targeted a wide range of violations commonly contributing to traffic congestion, accidents and road hazards.
A total of 57,451 challans have been issued for offences such as wrong-way driving, riding motorcycles without helmets, driving without valid licenses, and operating smoke-emitting or mechanically unfit vehicles. Authorities have also taken strict internal measures, issuing challans to 53 police officials found violating traffic laws, reinforcing the principle that enforcement applies equally to everyone.
In addition to fines, the police have taken more rigorous action where necessary. A total of 21,579 motorcycles and vehicles involved in traffic violations have been impounded. For serious or repeated offences, 540 criminal cases have been registered under the Punjab Motor Vehicles Ordinance, demonstrating the administration’s commitment to curbing dangerous behavior on the roads. RPO Zeeshan Asghar emphasized that the purpose behind all these actions is the protection of human life and the creation of safer roads for all users. He reiterated that no individual, including police personnel is above the law and urged citizens to strictly adhere to traffic rules. According to him, the ongoing operations are being conducted without any discrimination and continued cooperation from the public is essential for maintaining order and reducing accidents.
