Major Initiative to Protect Groundwater, Construction of 10 Recharge Wells Accelerated

Faisalabad: Under the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, WASA Faisalabad, under the supervision of the divisional administration, is actively working to provide improved civic facilities to citizens. In this regard, fast-track measures are underway for the construction of 10 Groundwater Recharge Wells at various locations across the city. Work on two of these recharge wells is in its final stages, while planning for the remaining sites is in progress.

Commissioner Faisalabad Raja Jahangir Anwar visited the sites of the Groundwater Recharge Wells at Hockey Stadium Sosan Road and Malikpur. On the occasion, Managing Director WASA Saqib Raza briefed him on the importance and utility of the projects. The Commissioner appreciated WASA’s ongoing efforts and directed that the construction of all Groundwater Recharge Wells must be completed before the upcoming monsoon season.

He stated that the completion of these projects will ensure rapid drainage of rainwater and significantly improve the underground water table. He further added that all available resources are being utilized to provide efficient drainage services to citizens during the next monsoon season. The MD WASA also informed that WASA is planning to construct four new water storage tanks, and initial steps in this regard have already been initiated.
