Commissioner Sahiwal Division Dr. Asif Tufail has said that antiquities are our cultural identity and national heritage, the protection of which is a collective responsibility. He said that a comprehensive plan should be formulated for the protection of historical sites, regular special visits should be made and security arrangements should be further strengthened so that these valuable heritages can be protected from any kind of damage. He was presiding over a meeting on the protection of antiquities in his office here, in which Director Development and Finance Shafiq Ahmed Dogar, Curator Harappa Museum Ahmed Nawaz Tipu and other relevant officers participated. A detailed briefing was given in the meeting regarding the famous temple located in Dhak Pakpattan Sharif, Harappa Museum and Malka Hans, among other historical sites. The briefing stated that there is a need to formulate integrated security measures for the protection and better care of historical sites, so that these sites can be made safe, functional and effective in terms of tourism in the future. Commissioner Dr. Asif Tufail said that through effective security measures, not only can historical sites be protected but they can also be used better for the promotion of tourism in the future. At the end of the meeting, various suggestions regarding the protection and monitoring of archaeological sites were also considered.
