Faisalabad: In compliance with the directives of the Punjab Government, Director General Faisalabad Development Authority (FDA) Muhammad Asif Chaudhry has ordered continuous monitoring of fire safety measures in multistorey buildings located in FDA-controlled residential colonies and commercial markets. He also directed officials to maintain close coordination with Rescue 1122 and the Civil Defence Department.
The directives were issued during a meeting held to review the implementation of Punjab Government instructions regarding fire safety arrangements. The meeting was attended by Additional Director General Qaisar Abbas Randhawa, Director Town Planning Asma Mohsin, Directors Estate Management Junaid Hassan Manj and Sohail Maqsood Pannu, Director IT Yasir Ejaz Chattha, along with other concerned officers.
The DG FDA instructed that building inspectors should remain active and vigilant in their respective jurisdictions. He emphasized thorough inspection of multistorey buildings, marquees, hotels, restaurants, shopping malls, industrial units, housing societies, public offices, educational institutions and other commercial properties. Inspectors were directed to ensure the availability of firefighting equipment, proper electrical installations, functional emergency exits, and to identify and address other potential hazards that could lead to accidents.
He further instructed that any shortcomings or deficiencies in fire safety arrangements should be promptly reported to the district administration and Civil Defence authorities. The DG FDA said that, in line with Punjab Government directives, a comprehensive and coordinated strategy must be adopted to prevent fire incidents and other emergencies on a proactive basis, enabling all relevant departments to work collectively for effective fire safety enforcement.
The officers were also directed to closely monitor the performance of building inspectors and obtain daily inspection reports to ensure strict compliance with safety standards.
