Islamabad Rock Climbing Community Celebrates International Mountain Day with Thrilling Event at Margalla Hills

Islamabad: In celebration of International Mountain Day, Islamabad’s rock climbing community came together for an exhilarating event at the iconic Margalla Hills, near Saidpur village. The gathering was organized by Mr. Sajid Aslam, a renowned rock climber and owner of E-Adventure, who has been instrumental in promoting rock climbing and adventure sports in the region.

The event saw enthusiastic participation from a diverse group, including young boys, girls, and expatriates residing in Islamabad. Climbers tackled various challenging routes along the hills, soaking in the breathtaking natural beauty of the area while enjoying the camaraderie of fellow adventurers.

The celebration highlighted the growing appeal of rock climbing in Islamabad, particularly among the city’s youth and members of the diplomatic community. Margalla Hills, with its accessible climbing routes and stunning vistas, has become a hub for adventure enthusiasts, drawing increasing numbers of participants each year.

Adding a festive touch to the day, a cake-cutting ceremony was held, led by Mr. Sajid Aslam and Abu Zafar Sadiq, President of the Alpine Club of Pakistan. The ceremony symbolized unity and the shared passion for mountain sports among the attendees.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Sajid Aslam emphasized the importance of celebrating mountain ecosystems and promoting adventure sports as a way to engage with nature. “Margalla Hills offers a perfect venue for rock climbing and outdoor activities. It’s encouraging to see so many young people and international residents joining hands to celebrate International Mountain Day,” he remarked.

Abu Zafar Sadiq highlighted the role of such events in fostering environmental awareness and promoting healthy recreational activities. He also acknowledged the growing interest in rock climbing and assured continued efforts by the Alpine Club to support and develop this sport in Pakistan.
