Johannesburg, 20 February 2025 – Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov on the sidelines of the G20 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in South Africa.

Wang Yi emphasized the deepening strategic partnership between China and Russia, highlighting close cooperation in economic and geopolitical matters. He reaffirmed China’s commitment to strengthening bilateral ties and advancing a multipolar world order.

Lavrov praised the direction set by Presidents Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping, expressing Russia’s readiness to enhance economic, trade, financial, and cultural cooperation with China. He also briefed Wang Yi on the Ukraine crisis, appreciating China’s role in promoting peaceful dialogue and political solutions.
