Germany: An internationally known young agriculture climate scientist belonged to Toba Tek Singh Dr Adnan Arshad had been honoured by German Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture to attend and share his research work on agricultural greenhouse gas emission (GHG) mitigation from high productive farming in the international symposium held in Berlin from October 21 to 23.Dr Adnan who is currently working as young researcher at Lanzhou University, China fostering international exchange on the implementation of climate mitigation measures and low-emission development strategies in agriculture, set new priorities and ideas for research cooperation and give new impetus to existing and emerging network activities. He opined in the symposium that by
implementing climate-smart management practices in Pakistan to grow legume crops plus mixtures with other crops can significantly restore soil nutrition while reducing greenhouse gas emissions. He said techniques such as inter-cropping legumes with cereals, using cover crops, and applying precision irrigation can enhance soil health and water efficiency. He added that by promoting sustainable farming methods, Pakistan can mitigate environmental impact and ensure long-term agricultural resilience. He said we are developing a possible roadmap to increase ambition for climate mitigation in agriculture, ways to improve science-policy communication, future work under the Global Research Alliance of Agricultural Green house Gas mitigation for developed and developing nations
