TOBA TEK SING: A special awareness seminar was organized at the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital (THQ) Kamalia on February 4 to mark World Cancer Day. The seminar was held under the supervision of Medical Superintendent Dr Adeel Arif.The objective of the seminar was to raise awareness about cancer among the general public, particularly women.
Addressing the seminar, Consultant Gynaecologist Dr Amtul Ayesha said that breast cancer and cervical cancer were among the most prevalent and dangerous cancers affecting women in Pakistan. She said that a large number of women were suffering from these diseases but timely medical check-ups and regular screening could help prevent them.Dr. Amtul Ayesha stressed that early diagnosis of breast and cervical cancer made complete treatment possible. She advised women above the age of 30 to undergo breast screening at least once a year and to adopt mandatory screening practices for the timely detection of cervical cancer. Emphasising a healthy lifestyle, she urged women to follow a balanced diet, ensure proper nutrition and make regular exercise a part of their daily routine to help prevent cancer and several other diseases.At the conclusion of the seminar, awareness pamphlets were distributed among patients and participants to further spread the message of cancer prevention and early diagnosis among women.
