The situation remains tense in Qila Abdullah due to two separate incidents. On one hand, the Quetta-Chaman international highway is still blocked for the recovery of a kidnapped person, while on the other, a highly serious incident has occurred at Abdullah Khan Cross.
According to details, unidentified armed men intercepted a police van at Abdullah Khan Cross and forcibly took away 15 prisoners who were in the van. According to sources, the armed men also snatched weapons from the police personnel and fled.
On the other hand, the main international highway in Qila Abdullah has been closed since yesterday due to an ongoing strike. The protesters say that one of their men has been kidnapped by armed men and the highway will remain closed until the abductee is safely recovered.
Following these incidents, there is serious concern over the security situation in the area. The freeing of 15 prisoners at once from police custody is a big question mark for the security institutions.
No official statement has been issued by the police and other relevant departments after the incident, nor has any progress been reported regarding the search for the escaped prisoners.
