Khamenei: Iran Does Not Need Proxies, Houthis Act Independently

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei stated on Friday that Tehran does not require proxy forces in the region and that groups like Yemen’s Houthis operate based on their own motivations rather than acting as agents of Iran.

Khamenei emphasized that organizations such as Hezbollah, Hamas, and Islamic Jihad make decisions independently, driven by their own beliefs. He asserted that if Iran chooses to act, it does not need intermediaries.

The statement comes amid ongoing tensions in the Middle East and discussions about Iran’s influence over regional militant groups.
