In Guangxi, China, hybrid buffaloes, including many of Pakistani Nili Ravi breed, are thriving, with increased demand for their high-protein, high-fat milk. The farm’s manager, Yao Liqiang, explained that these hybrids are a result of crossbreeding Pakistani and local breeds to improve milk production. Since the 1970s, Pakistan’s Nili Ravi buffaloes have been integral in enhancing China’s dairy industry. In June 2024, China imported 5,000 buffalo embryos from Pakistan. The farm, set to house 1,500 buffaloes, will significantly contribute to local employment and the economy. The growing demand for buffalo milk products continues to expand in China’s market.
