Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif led a meeting of the federal cabinet, where approval was granted for revised agreements with 14 Independent Power Producers (IPPs). The new agreements are expected to save Rs. 1.4 trillion, with a reduction in profits and costs by Rs. 802 billion, along with a Rs. 35 billion deduction from excess profits earned in previous years.

The revised agreements aim to lower electricity prices, reduce circular debt, and benefit consumers. The Prime Minister commended the efforts of key officials involved in finalizing the agreements, including the Minister for Power, Adviser for Power, and the task force.

The cabinet also approved the merger of the Anti-Narcotics Division into the Ministry of Interior and the Aviation Division into the Ministry of Defence.
