Punjab government pledges compensation, support, and educational security for families of polio workers killed in the line of duty.

TOBA TEK SINGH: On the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Provincial Minister for Health and Population Welfare Khawaja Imran Nazir visited Toba Tek Singh on Monday.During the visit, the minister meet the family of a lady health worker who lost her life in a road accident during the polio campaign and distributed compensation cheques on behalf of the Punjab government. He also distributed financial assistance cheques among polio workers who were injured in the incident.Mr Imran Nazir announced that the Punjab government would bear the educational expenses of the deceased lady health worker’s daughters to ensure their future security.Addressing the gathering, the provincial health minister said that those who sacrifice their lives in the line of duty attain the status of martyrs. He paid tribute to the sacrifices of polio workers and termed their services unforgettable.
He said lady health workers, lady health supervisors, community health inspectors and polio workers were frontline soldiers and that no compromise would be made on their dignity and respect. “Despite extreme weather conditions, these workers remain in the field to secure the future of our children,” he added. Mr Imran Nazir said the Punjab government stood with the families of martyrs and injured workers and was taking serious steps for the safety and welfare of health workers. He further said that the protection of polio health workers was a special priority of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.Member of the Provincial Assembly Col (retd) Sardar Ayub Khan Gadhi and Deputy Commissioner Umar Abbas Mela,CEO health Dr.Kashif Mahmood were also present on the occasion.
