FAISALABAD: The Faisalabad Police and district administration have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at providing quality and affordable education to the children of police officers and personnel, a move widely seen as a positive step towards strengthening welfare mechanisms within the force. The agreement, signed between Regional Police Officer Faisalabad Sohail Akhtar Sukhera and Commissioner Faisalabad Raja Jahangir Anwar, enables children of police personnel to seek education at institutions including Divisional Public School (DPS), DMC, Sandal College and Chenab College campuses.Under the MoU, children of police martyrs will receive a 100 per cent waiver in registration and monthly tuition fees, while children of police officers injured in the line of duty will be granted a 75pc concession. Children of serving police employees will be entitled to a 50pc reduction in registration and monthly fees.
Observers say the MoU represents a meaningful attempt to address long-standing welfare concerns of police families, particularly in a profession marked by risk and financial constraints. By facilitating access to recognised educational institutions, the initiative is expected to improve morale within the police force and contribute to social stability among families of martyrs, injured officers and serving personnel.
However, officials acknowledge that the agreement is wider in scope and largely focused on fee concessions at renowned institutions. They emphasised the need for further MoUs with universities, professional colleges and technical institutes to broaden educational opportunities, especially in specialised and high-demand fields.
RPO Sohail Sukhera and Commissioner Raja Jahangir Anwar reiterated their resolve to pursue additional partnerships in the future, stating that sustained collaboration with educational institutions would help develop a more comprehensive and long-term welfare framework for police officers their families and children.
