Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb has announced the elimination of 150,000 government posts as part of a rightsizing initiative aimed at reducing the size of government operations.
In a press conference, the minister stated that 65 departments across 10 ministries will be reviewed, with plans to abolish 40 departments and either privatize or transfer 28 others to provincial authorities.
The downsizing effort will also extend to critical sectors such as the Ministry of Defence and the judiciary, reflecting the government’s commitment to streamlining operations and reducing expenditures.
