Champions Trophy: Pakistan Submits 20 Names for Initial Squad to ICC

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has submitted a list of 20 players to the ICC for the initial squad of the Champions Trophy. Media reports suggest that the names of these 20 players will not be announced immediately. The players included in the list will participate in the upcoming tri-series.

Bangladesh has also announced their squad for the Champions Trophy, with Shakib Al Hasan being excluded.

By the time the final squad is announced on February 11, Pakistan will have already played two matches in the tri-series, and clarity regarding Saim Ayub’s participation will also be available. There are chances that Fakhar Zaman will be given an opportunity for the tri-series, while Saim Ayub’s participation in the Champions Trophy is conditional on fitness.

Until February 11, changes can be made to the initial squad without ICC approval, but after February 12, any changes to the announced squad can only be made with the approval of the ICC Technical Committee.

Teams are required to submit player names for ICC events one month before the support period begins. The support period for the ICC Champions Trophy will start on February 12, while the mega event will take place from February 19 to March 9 in Pakistan and Dubai under a hybrid model.

It is important to note that today (Sunday) is the last date for submitting the initial squad for the Champions Trophy to the ICC.
