Rockstar Games has officially announced the “Grand Theft Auto VI Extended Look,” generating renewed excitement among gamers ahead of the highly anticipated release of GTA 6.
The upcoming presentation is expected to provide a more detailed look at the game than previous promotional videos. Rockstar is reportedly using an unusual release strategy, with the Extended Look set to premiere on Netflix several hours before its wider release on YouTube.
GTA 6 Extended Look Release Date and Time
The GTA 6 Extended Look is scheduled for Thursday, August 27, 2026. Fans will reportedly have two ways to watch the presentation.
Netflix subscribers:
Thursday, August 27 at 3 PM ET / 12 PM PT
YouTube and Rockstar Games:
Thursday, August 27 at 9 PM ET / 6 PM PT
This means viewers without a Netflix subscription will still be able to watch the Extended Look for free on Rockstar Games’ official YouTube channel several hours later.
Why Is Rockstar Partnering With Netflix?
The Netflix partnership represents a notable change from Rockstar’s traditional approach to major GTA announcements. Rockstar has historically relied heavily on YouTube, social media and gaming platforms to distribute trailers and promotional material.
By giving Netflix an early window, Rockstar can turn the GTA 6 reveal into a larger entertainment-style premiere and potentially reach Netflix’s massive global audience.
However, players who do not subscribe to Netflix will not be excluded. The presentation is expected to become freely available through Rockstar Games’ YouTube channel six hours after the Netflix premiere.
What Could GTA 6 Extended Look Reveal?
The title “Extended Look” suggests that the upcoming video could go beyond the cinematic presentation and environmental footage shown in previous GTA 6 trailers.
Fans are expecting additional details about gameplay mechanics, the open-world environment, missions, vehicles, activities and other features.
Particular attention is likely to focus on Lucia and Jason, the game’s two central protagonists. Their relationship and dual-character gameplay have been among the biggest talking points surrounding GTA 6.
The Extended Look could therefore provide the clearest indication yet of how players will switch between the two characters and how their stories connect throughout the game.
With anticipation already at extraordinary levels, the August 27 presentation could become one of the biggest gaming reveals of 2026, particularly if Rockstar showcases substantial new gameplay footage and previously unseen areas of the GTA 6 world.
