xAI has introduced Imagine Image 2.0, a new Quality Mode designed to deliver more detailed and consistent AI-generated images through its Grok-based Imagine platform.
The new model is available on the web version of Imagine, as well as through Grok’s iOS and Android apps. xAI says Image 2.0 is aimed at creative projects that require greater control over visual layouts, typography and recurring design elements, rather than simply generating standalone images.
According to xAI, Imagine Image 2.0 can interpret detailed prompts and create complex visual compositions with improved precision. The model is also designed to handle text within images more effectively, including organizing typography and maintaining the readability of smaller text.
Another key feature is its ability to preserve user-provided visual elements when generating new images or editing existing ones. This could make the technology particularly useful for designers and creators working on projects that require consistent characters, branding, layouts or other visual elements across multiple images.
xAI said the improvements are intended to make Imagine more suitable for professional creative workflows, where consistency and accurate execution of prompts are important.
The company has also indicated that API access for Imagine Image 2.0 is planned, although developers cannot access the API at the moment.
The launch adds another upgrade to xAI’s growing AI ecosystem as competition in AI image generation continues to intensify, with companies increasingly focusing on better text rendering, image editing and consistency across generated content.
