China will impose a 34% additional tariff on all U.S. products starting at 12:01 PM on April 10, according to an announcement by the Customs Tariff Commission of the State Council. The decision follows China’s approval of this move in accordance with its Customs Tariff Law, Customs Law, Foreign Trade Law, and other relevant regulations, as well as international legal principles.
A 34% tariff will be applied to all imported goods from the United States based on the current applicable tariff rates. There will be no changes to existing bonded and tax exemption policies; however, the newly imposed additional tariffs will not be subject to reduction or exemption. Goods shipped before 12:01 PM on April 10 and imported by midnight on May 13 will not be subject to the additional tariffs outlined in this announcement.
