Faisalabad Region police arrest 46 gangs, recover Rs324m in crack down

Faisalabad: Under the directives of Punjab Inspector General of Police Rao Abdul Karim, a comprehensive crackdown against criminal elements continued across the Faisalabad region during January 2026, Regional Police Officer (RPO) Faisalabad Sohail Akhtar Sukhera said.
Further, He said that during the month of January, police arrested 46 dangerous gangs involved in various crimes, apprehending 117 suspects. As a result, 358 criminal cases were resolved, while stolen property including 85 motorcycles, gold jewellery, mobile phones, 50 heads of cattle and over Rs324 million in cash was recovered from the suspects.Providing details of operations against drug peddlers, the RPO said police registered 1,101 cases and arrested 1,107 accused, recovering 462.92kg of charas, 17.78kg of ice (crystal meth), 134.8kg of heroin and 14,152 litres of liquor, all of which was taken into police custody.
In actions against illegal weapons, police recovered 341 pistols, three revolvers, 22 shotguns, three Kalashnikov rifles, 22 rifles and 1,062 rounds of ammunition from various suspects.The RPO Sohail Akhtar Sukhera said that under the Kite Flying Act, police registered 247 cases and arrested 255 individuals, recovering 12,990 kites and 287 spools of chemical string.He added that during the same period, police arrested 29 proclaimed offenders in murder cases and 37 in attempted murder cases. Additionally, 293 Category-A and 753 Category-B proclaimed offenders, along with 65 Category-A and 524 Category-B court absconders, were taken into custody.
Highlighting public facilitation initiatives, Mr Sikhaira said that under the open-door policy, daily open courts and 1,787 online complaints helped resolve the issues of over 2,100 citizens. Through 15 Khidmat Markaz and 20 Khidmat Counters across the region, services were provided to more than 79,000 citizens. Moreover, over 2,600 complaints received at four Tahaffuz Centres and six Mithaq Centres were addressed, while over 60 show-cause notices and appeal decisions were issued through the orderly room.Regarding police welfare, the RPO said memorandums of understanding (MoUs) were signed with several renowned educational institutions, including Career Institute Pvt Ltd, DPS, DMC, Chenab College, Sandal Bar College, Aspire Group of Colleges and Rising Grammar School, Khurrianwala. Under these MoUs, 100pc fee concession will be provided to children of police martyrs, 75pc to children of Ghazi police officers, and 50pc to children of serving and retired police personnel.
Moreover, MoU was also signed with DAIScient Medical Complex, under which 100pc medical concession will be provided to families of police martyrs, 70pc to families of Ghazi officers and 50pc to families of serving and retired police personnel.
RPO Sohail Sukhera directed district police officers to adopt effective and practical strategies to curb street crime, particularly robbery, snatching and house theft. He ordered intensified action against criminal gangs, continued crackdowns on drug peddlers, gambling dens and brothels, and ensured the arrest of accused involved in serious criminal cases.
