Development activities to be accelerated after monsoon, says Housing Secretary Noor-ul-Amin Mengal

FAISALABAD: Punjab Housing Secretary Noor-ul-Amin Mengal has said that 70 percent work under the Chief Minister Punjab Development Package has been completed in Faisalabad, while development activities will be accelerated further after the conclusion of the monsoon season.He expressed these views while reviewing various ongoing development projects in Faisalabad during a visit to different project sites along with Deputy Commissioner Nauman Siddique. The secretary reviewed progress on schemes being executed under the Chief Minister Punjab Development Package and the Punjab Development Programme.
Managing Director WASA Saqib Raza briefed the secretary on the progress of various ongoing development schemes. Noor-ul-Amin Mengal inspected the Gulistan Underground Mega Water Storage Tank and the Samanabad College Road Pipeline Scheme, besides reviewing other development sites.
During the briefing, the MD WASA informed that 70 percent of the work under the Chief Minister Punjab Development Package had been completed, while 24 percent work under the Punjab Development Programme had also been completed.He said that under the Punjab Development Programme, a total of 116 kilometres of sewerage lines were being laid to improve the sewerage system in Faisalabad. In addition, 56 kilometres of drains were being constructed for the disposal of rainwater and improvement of the city’s drainage system.The secretary directed the concerned officers to ensure timely completion of all ongoing development schemes while maintaining the required standards of construction and quality. He also stressed the need for ensuring proper safety arrangements at all development sites.Noor-ul-Amin Mengal said that the safety of workers as well as citizens was a top priority and there would be zero tolerance regarding safety measures at development sites. He directed the concerned departments to take all necessary precautionary measures during execution of the projects so that citizens faced minimum inconvenience.The Housing Secretary said that practical measures were being taken in accordance with the directions of Chief Minister Punjab to address sewerage and drainage issues in Faisalabad on a permanent basis. Completion of the projects would improve sewerage and drainage facilities for citizens and contribute to providing a cleaner environment in the city.He further directed WASA and other concerned departments to maintain the pace of development work after the monsoon season and complete the projects according to the prescribed targets while ensuring quality and minimizing inconvenience to the public.
