Jamia Karachi Alumni Association Houston Hosts Meet and Greet Dinner for Prof. Dr. Muhammad Tufail

Jamia Karachi Alumni Association Houston (JKAAH) welcomed Professor Dr. Muhammad Tufail as its distinguished guest at a private dinner held in his honour on Monday, 5 October 2026. The evening, described on the invitation as one of conversation, fellowship and connection with Houston friends, brought alumni and community members together at Elite Indo Pak Restaurant in Sugar Land.

The private invitation carried a portrait of Professor Tufail alongside the JKAAH logo and named the Board of Directors as host. Guests were requested to arrive at 7:45 PM for the meet and greet, so that the formal programme could begin promptly at 8:15 PM.

About the Guest of Honour

The invitation introduces Professor Dr. Muhammad Tufail as Acting Vice Chancellor of the University of Karachi and Vice Chancellor of NED University of Engineering and Technology. Local coverage in PakAmericanVoice, dated the same day, highlighted his role at NED University and described the gathering as a warm Houston welcome. It said alumni, friends and community members came together to honour his academic leadership and to celebrate the lasting bond between Jamia Karachi and higher education institutions in Pakistan.

His posts at two Karachi universities made the visit especially meaningful for alumni now living in Texas.

According to the same report, Faheem Akhoond, President of Jamia Karachi Alumni Association Houston, hosted the reception. The Consul General of Pakistan in Houston also took part in the event and spoke to guests. Several speakers addressed the audience from the association podium during the programme, and Professor Tufail himself spoke to the gathering.

Alumni and Community Together

Guests posed for group photographs in front of a screen showing the JKAAH logo, with association banners placed on either side of the stage. At the dinner tables, alumni and friends greeted one another over food, and the room was set with gold napkins, lanterns and candle holders. The mood throughout was one of friendship and mutual respect.

Roll up banners beside the stage carried the line sponsored by Jamia Karachi Alumni Association Houston Texas, a visible sign of the group’s work for education. The occasion brought together members of Houston’s community in a spirit of friendship and support for education.

Commitment to Education

The report said the occasion reflected the association’s commitment to strengthening connections between alumni and their universities, while continuing to support students and educational opportunities in Pakistan. For many present, the evening was a chance to hear directly from a senior academic leader and to stay linked with institutions back home. Gatherings like this help graduates living abroad stay involved with the places that shaped them.
