Dr. Kiran Khurshid, Secretary, Price Control and Commodities Management Department, Lahore, Flight Lieutenant (Retd) Imran Qureshi, Director General Commodities, and Dr. Faisal Saleem, Deputy Commissioner/Chairperson, District Consumer Protection Council, Mandi Bahauddin, as per the directions of the vision of Secretary Price Control and Commodities, and Dr. Faisal Saleem, Deputy Commissioner/Chairperson, District Consumer Protection Council, Mandi Bahauddin, a number of awareness seminars were organized at Government Postgraduate College, Mandi Bahauddin under the chairmanship of Shehla Mubeen, Assistant Director Legal, in which Noreen Niaz, Fakhar Batool, members of District Consumer Protection Council, Mandi Bahauddin, teachers and a large number of students studying in the college participated. Addressing the seminar, Shehla Mubeen, Assistant Director Legal, District Consumer Protection Council, Mandi Bahauddin, shed detailed light on the Consumer Protection Act and informed the participants about their rights as consumers and how they can protect their rights. He informed the participants that if the shopkeeper does not issue you a receipt, does not inform you about the ingredients of the items being sold, does not clearly display the preparation and expiry dates and prices in his shop, then you can register your complaints by approaching the District Consumer Protection Council Mandi Bahauddin. If the complaint is proven, the authority can impose a fine of Rs 1,000 to Rs 100,000. He further said in his address that the Punjab government and the District Consumer Protection Council Mandi Bahauddin under the leadership of the CM Punjab are always working to protect the rights of the people as consumers. Consumers should also show responsibility and inquire about the preparation and expiry date, price list, ingredients and receipt while purchasing items.
