Toba Tek Singh: A vibrant three-day Winter Carnival has commenced in Kamalia with great enthusiasm and public participation. The carnival was formally inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Toba Tek Singh Umar Abbas Mela.The event is being organized under the supervision of Assistant Commissioner Iqra Nasir and will continue from December 29 to December 31.The inaugural ceremony was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Zeeshan Labbha Masih and Assistant Commissioner Kamalia Iqra Nasir. Additional Sessions Judge Kamalia Muhammad Hashir and SDO Pera Sadaf Irshad were also present on the occasion.Former MNA Mian Asad-ur- Rehman and former District Nazim Fauzia Khalid Waraich made special appearances. Prominent political and social figures including Chaudhry Khushi Muhammad Jutt, former Chairman Municipal Committee Malik Muhammad Sharif and Petron-in-Chief of Kamalia Tajer ittehad Chaudhry Kamran Ahmad Nusrat also participated.On the opening day, renowned folk singer Zahoor Lohar delivered a spectacular performance, greatly entertaining the audience. The traditional horse dance added cultural charm and beauty to the carnival.A large number of families attended the Winter Carnival. A safe and attractive kids playland was specially established for children. The Agriculture Department arranged a beautiful flower exhibition, which drew significant attention from citizens.A special selfie point was set up for youth and became a major center of public interest. Various food and shopping stalls offering traditional and modern cuisines were a key attraction.
To promote Kamalia Khaddar, a traditional loom was installed, showcasing the hand-weaving process live. The Handicraft Development Center Kamalia also set up a regional handicrafts stall. A special exhibition of clay pottery, reflecting the culture of the Indus Valley, was another highlight.On the second day, painting and singing competitions will be held for children and youth. For literature lovers, a Mushaira (poetry gathering) will be organized on December 30 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, featuring renowned poet Sofia Bedar and Punjabi poet Altaf Hussain Bharwana.
On the third day, famous singer Tahir Khan Rokhri will mesmerize the audience with his performance. The Winter Carnival will conclude with a grand fireworks display.
Bonfire, live mehndi, live music and colorful stalls have been arranged as special attractions for citizens. The district administration has appealed to the public to attend the Winter Carnival with their families and enjoy the festivities.
