Protection of consumer rights is our top priority, illegal profiteering and substandard products will not be tolerated under any circumstances. Assistant Director Legal Consumer Protection Council Sahiwal Chaudhry Shahid Shabbir while talking to the media said that the Consumer Protection Council Sahiwal has informed the public about their legal rights against substandard and expired products, illegal profiteering and poor services and said that immediate and effective resolution of consumer problems is the top priority of the institution. He said that if a consumer is sold substandard or expired goods, if the price list is not displayed at business centers, if the ingredients, date of manufacture or expiry date are not mentioned on the packaging of the goods, then this is a complete violation of the law. He further said that if the public is deceived through false and misleading advertising, or if the consumer faces mental or financial distress due to poor and inappropriate services of any government or non-government institution or firm, all such matters are complaintable. Chaudhry Shahid Shabbir said that consumers are the foundation of a satisfied society and a prosperous economy, therefore, protection of consumer rights is indispensable. He urged the citizens to come forward to protect their rights and approach the Consumer Protection Council Sahiwal in case of any kind of abuse. Assistant Director Legal Consumer Protection Council Sahiwal Chaudhry Shahid Shabbir clarified that the complaints received at the Consumer Protection Council Sahiwal are redressed transparently and timely as per the law so that justice can be ensured to the people. Finally, he appealed to the citizens to thoroughly check the items while purchasing and in case of any violation, do not hesitate to visit the Consumer Protection Council Sahiwal.
