Provincial Government Has Failed to Resolve Public Issues: Asghar Khan Achakzai

The Provincial President of Awami National Party, Asghar Khan Achakzai, has said that bad governance has reached its peak across the province, including Chaman district. He stated that the so-called ruling group, which came into power through a fake mandate, has completely failed to deliver.

He added that the rising lawlessness, robberies, and theft in Chaman are the result of the closure of trade along the Durand Line. He alleged that there is a deliberate attempt to portray the Pashtun region as a hub of crime. Large-scale cultivation and trafficking of narcotics, the presence of armed groups, lawlessness, and extremism are all taking place under the patronage of the government and state institutions.

He emphasized that political workers must raise their voices to expose this conspiracy, and that organizational coordination at the basic unit, tehsil, and district levels should be strengthened.

He expressed these views while addressing a meeting of the District Executive Committee of Awami National Party Chaman, which was chaired by District President Abdul Khaliq Haqmal. Other speakers included Abdul Khaliq Haqmal, Central Committee member Dr. Abdul Samad Achakzai, Samiullah Khan, and others.

During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on organizational matters. Serious concern was expressed over the deteriorating law and order situation in the district, poor governance, closure of trade along the Durand Line, restrictions on movement and historic cultural ties, nepotism by the ruling elite, and unannounced and unjust load shedding by WAPDA, as well as extortion on the Chaman–Quetta highway.

It was decided that workers’ training conventions would soon be held at the tehsil level. According to the schedule, these conventions will take place on May 10 (Sunday) in Sadar Tehsil, May 17 (Sunday) in City Tehsil, and June 7 (Sunday) in Zhob Tehsil. For the success of these conventions, close coordination with grassroots units will be ensured, and various administrative committees have been formed.

While addressing the participants, the speakers strongly criticized the performance of the administration regarding the worsening law and order situation in Chaman city. They said that due to the deteriorating situation, incidents of street crime have increased significantly across the district, especially in Chaman city, while unemployment has made the lives of the people miserable.

The speakers further said that the use of substandard materials in development projects in Chaman city reflects the corrupt strategy of the current incompetent government. They also highlighted the poor condition of WAPDA services in the city, where unannounced load shedding has become routine, and in rural areas, electricity outages last for days instead of hours, causing severe hardship for the people. They demanded that WAPDA authorities ensure uninterrupted electricity supply.

The meeting reaffirmed the commitment to expand Awami National Party across the district in line with the philosophy of Bacha Khan, emphasizing that an active and organized structure is essential for this purpose.
